| A Damage Survey and Insurance Claim Survey is generally requested by an insurance company to determine the extent of damage to a vessel in an insurance claim, however, sometimes a vessel owner may find this survey useful to protect their own interest in dealing with a damage claim. It is performed to assess the extent of damage, recommend repairs, estimate repair cost, and if requested, to try to determine the possible cause. A claims investigation is performed for an insurance company to help them settle an insurance claim. These pictures are of damage caused by Hurricane Ike in Texas. |
